“Our ability to reason and think abstractly defines us as a human species but the need for sexual contact and experimentation defines all organisms of the animal kingdom. Sometimes the mechanisms that help us to complete the process of sexual arousal, desire and orgasm become impaired, as in the Sexual Dysfunction Disorders, and we as innately sexual beings are left largely unfulfilled with marked distress and interpersonal difficulty. One such disorder, Female Orgasmic Disorder, is defined in the DSM-IV-TR, the diagnostic manual of The American Psychiatric Association. According to the DSM-IV-TR, women exhibit a wide variability in the type or intensity of stimulation that triggers orgasm. After a normal phase of sexual excitement, women diagnosed with this disorder exhibit a persistently or repeatedly delayed or even an absence of orgasm. Diagnosis relies on the judgment of the clinician and considers the women’s age, her degree of sexual experience, and the adequacy of sexual stimulation during foreplay. The condition must cause problems with the personal relationships of sexual partners to be considered a disorder and cannot be directly caused by prescription medications, drugs of abuse, or a general medical condition. The capacity to achieve healthy orgasms does increase with age as most cases of Female Orgasmic Disorder are seen in younger women. Many women increase their ability to achieve orgasm simply by acquiring more knowledge of their own body’s response to arousal and stimulation. It is important to consider that some prescription medications may decrease sexual desire and performance as an unwanted and disturbing adverse effect, however these medications should be taken at the advice of the medical professionals who prescribe them since they are clinically important and often life saving to treat specific medical conditions. Although counseling with licensed sex therapists, psychotherapy and pharmacotherapy have proven beneficial in the treatment of Sexual Dysfunction Disorders; masturbatory training through direct clitoral stimulation has proven effective.
My Buddy, by CiciLoves, was designed to serve as a support apparatus; an easily and comfortably mountable cushion, to maximize the clitoral stimulation provided by wand massagers, and required to achieve healthy, constant and strong orgasms. Although it is not licensed as a medical intervention, in my medical opinion, it is a clinically efficacious addendum to the current treatment standards for orgasmic disorder through its usage as a masturbatory and coital device. The device was designed to permit the user to apply as much pressure on the head of the wand massager as needed to produce the desired effect. The clinical purpose for development lies in its ability to “teach” an individual to achieve orgasm when previously unable with the rationale that this new learned sexual response might generalize during coitus with a sexual partner. Simply stated, if you can learn to achieve orgasm during masturbation using My Buddy, you may continue to achieve orgasm during sexual activity because your body has learned to do so. It is our hope, that My Buddy will help you to do what all animal organisms innately need to do.”
